Application guide
The aim of the Nordic Children’s and Youth Committee’s grant program is to strengthen the Nordic identity by children and youth’s participation in activities concerning cultural, political and social questions in the North.
What can be supported?
Grants are given to activities contributing to the development of the Nordic cooperation of organisations involving children and youth. Grants can be given to meetings and other activities necessary for the development of the cooperation. Grants can also be given to the elaboration of Nordic information material such as websites, publications, etc.
Grants cannot cover purchase of office equipment and inventory or acquisition of property.
Who can receive grants?
Grants can be given to Nordic umbrella organisations (networks). The member organisations must be national children and youth organisations. The umbrella organisation (network) must have organisations and members in at least three Nordic countries or autonomous regions: Denmark, Greenland, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the Aaland Islands.
Each grant entitled member organisation must be independent. Grants are not given to local and regional divisions of national organisations.
Grants can be given to member organisations meeting one of the following criteria:
A) The organisation must be grant entitled as a national child or youth organisation.
B) The organisation must:
- Be a concept-based organisation.
- Have at least 50% of its members under the age of 25 years.
- Have a democratic organisational structure.
If the organisation does not meet criterion A) and, therefore, applies for grants under criterion B), the statutes and a confirmation of the number of members of the organisation must be enclosed.
Grants are not given to sport organisations and professional organisations.
How to apply
Applicants must use the electronic application form.
The application must include:
Name, address and number of members of each participating organisation.
Description of the planned activities with information on the expected number of participants from each of the participating organisations.
Description of objectives and expected results.
Budget for the individual activities.
Information on self-financing and co-financing.
If grants are awarded, the applicant is responsible for submitting a financial and a written report.
How are the funds distributed?
In the annual distribution of grants priority is given according to the following criteria:
Priority is given to networks including as many countries as possible. Priority is also given to networks including the West North (that is, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Greenland). Participation of organisations from Northwest Russia and the Baltic countries can entitle to a raised grant.
Priority is given to activities contributing to strengthen Nordic identity and cooperation.
Quality of application
The application should explicitly include:
- The objectives and expected results
- A description of concrete activities with information on the participating organisations
- Coherence between budget and described activities.
Priority is given to projects involving disabled children or youth.
Application and deadline
Application for an organisation grant should concern an entire calendar year. The deadline is Novemebr 1st the previous year.
Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
Applicants can expect to receive an answer to their application by the middle of December.
Grant payments
Grants are paid in two instalments. 85% are paid when the Danish Agency for Internatioanl Education has received the signed contract. The remaining 15% are paid when the Agency has approved the final financial and written reports.
Reporting
A report of activities must be submitted no later than two months after the end of the project.
It must be evident from the grant beneficiary’s project publications, that it is supported by the Nordic Children’s and Youth Committee.
