Thematic monitoring - E-learning

Since 2003 the European Commission together with Leonardo National Agencies has worked systematically with thematic monitoring activities in order to improve the exchange of information and knowledge between Leonardo projects across the participating countries and to increase the visibility of the programme across the participating countries. Through studies, documentation and seminars the thematic monitoring process has as it aim to support the mainstreaming of results and findings into national and European vocational training and education structures.

The objectives of the activities have been:

  • To increase the visibility of the programme throughout the participating countries.To organise ‘exchange of experience’ meetings and publish updated compendia (with the help of external experts) of projects.
  • To allow for mainstreaming of results and findings into national and European vocational training and education systems.
  • To assess the results from of the projects and disseminate/exploit the best results of those in order to capitalise on money the invested in the projects.

Based on the experience of the National Agencies and the Commission, the following five thematic groups were established:

  1. VET and the labour market, guidance, target groups
  2. Development of competencies and skills within companies, SMEs, competencies at sectoral level
  3. Quality of VET systems and practices, continuous training of teachers and trainers
  4. Transparency of qualifications, validation of formal and informal learning, credit transfer
  5. E-learning

Six seminars have been held until now within the thematic group of e-learning. The following reports summarises the results:
